Helicopter crash kills two soldiers in Georgia

When a soldier tragically passes, the country comes together to pay their respects and show admiration for that individual. It is important to remember that not all soldiers are killed overseas and those losses that occur within this country are just as painful.

In 2011 an Army helicopter pilot was involved in a crash at Fort Benning. That crash claimed the pilot's life, along with another soldier in the helicopter. Recent reports have surfaced that question the safety of the helicopter. The companies that created the parts for the AH-6M Little Bird may be held liable if it is determined that their negligence was the result of the accident. The pilot's family has recently filed a wrongful death lawsuit.

Wrongful death lawsuits may arise out of various situations. Some of these can include criminal actions, exposure to hazardous materials or situations, car, airplane, motorcycle or other vehicular accidents, or medical malpractice.

A wrongful death lawsuit cannot replace the loss of a loved one, but it can help alleviate the financial burden that has been placed on the family since the loss. After a tragedy, a family must often gather funds to pay off medical expenses, debts and other various costs. The legal system does offer relief for these families if negligence can be proven.

Legal negligence can hold other entities responsible for the death of a loved one. In order to prove negligence, the family must show that an entity had a reasonable duty, they failed to perform that duty, and the death of their loved one resulted from that failure. When this link is shown in court, families are able to gain compensation that helps lift their financial burden and move toward the healing process.

When a loved one has been lost in a tragedy, knowing one's options and rights is crucial. Families in this difficult position may find help in the guidance that a legal professional in the Atlanta area is able to provide.
