Truck making U-turn causes fatal motorcycle accident

Motorcycles and trucks in Fulton County must share the road to ensure the safety of both. Of course, that is the ideal. It does not always come to pass that way. With motorcycle accidents, there is a significant chance of major injuries and death because of the vulnerability of the rider. In some instances, these accidents happen because a driver is committing negligence and failing to obey the rules of the road.

An accident between a motorcycle and a truck led to the death of the motorcyclist. The truck driver is now facing charges for second degree vehicular homicide. The accident happened at approximately 9 a.m. as the truck driver was heading south in the far right lane of the road. He attempted to make a U-turn and went into the path of a 46-year-old motorcyclist who was also heading south. In trying to stop, the motorcyclist skidded for more than 160 feet before crashing into the truck. He was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead later that day.

When there is a fatal accident, there are numerous issues that must be dealt with in its aftermath. The family must come to grips with the loss of a loved one and the absence in their daily lives. If the person was a breadwinner, the future will be a serious consideration with the loss of income for the family. With a wrongful death, there is often shock and dismay at what happened. The insurance company will contact the family and try to negotiate a settlement to try and preclude a legal filing. While the offer they make might sound reasonable, after calculating everything that has been lost, it is rarely enough.

In this accident, a truck was allegedly making an illegal U-turn and a motorcycle crashed into the truck, injuring the rider so severely that he later died. Considering the situation, it is important that the family know how to move forward to be compensated for their loss. To gather information, they should discuss the matter with a qualified legal professional as soon as possible.
