When driving in Fulton County, it's imperative that drivers pay close attention to what they're doing to avoid a car accident. This is especially true when on the highway. Vehicles moving at a high rate of speed can lead to people being seriously injured or killed in a crash. When there is an accident with injuries, it can change the lives of not only the person or persons who were hurt, but their families as well.
A recent accident involving four vehicles sent four people to the hospital. The accident occurred at shortly after 3 p.m. and involved a passenger car, two pickups and a tractor trailer. A 15-year-old boy was behind the wheel of a Ford pickup and heading east when he hit the back of a Toyota Avalon. The pickup then went into the lanes of traffic heading west and had a head-on collision with the tractor trailer. The tractor trailer then hit a Chevy pickup. The teen driver of the Ford pickup was airlifted to the hospital. His 77-year-old grandfather, the 81-year-old driver of the Chevy pickup and the 43-year-old driver of the tractor trailer were also taken to the hospital. The boy now faces charges for following another vehicle too closely.
When there is a car accident with injuries, it's important that those who were hurt know what to do in its aftermath. There could be hefty medical costs with a hospital stay, rehabilitation and the need for long-term care. A person might not be able to return to work or function normally for a long time, if ever. For many, the only way they can make ends meet and pay for the necessary care is to file litigation to receive damages. Insurers are mostly focused on maintaining cost control. This is why a key to any case is to have a comprehensive accident investigation to determine what happened and why.
This multi-vehicle crash started when a 15-year-old driver was allegedly following another vehicle too closely and collided with it, sparking a head-on collision and subsequent accidents. Those who were hurt need to gather all the information they can regarding this incident. Their first step should be to contact an attorney experienced in motor vehicle accidents to decide how best to move forward.
